Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and Networks -Wikipedia
Social Media involves using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Youtube, and Linked In to share information and build a following. With these platforms, you are creating inviting and informative profiles while interacting with new friends and business prospects.
If you are just starting to use Social Media personally or learning how to use it for your business, there are a few different ways to boost your efforts.
Sharing Savvy Useful Content
Sharing Savvy content can be anything from posting and sharing a blog, inspirational quotes, videos, and photos to your various Social Media Profiles allows you to become more of a visual presence in your industry and in your niche. Putting useful content out there on the internet shows people that you are a knowledgeable expert in your business. It makes you the go to person for information. You become the person who solves problems and answers questions. When your potential clients gets to know, like and trust you it begins to increase your visibility and eventually your business. People do business with people not with products so make sure that you are making it personal. Let your followers into your world so they can get to know the real you. Social Media is all about building relationships and strong connections. So be a problem solver. Help others to get where they want to be.
Post fun and beautiful Lifestyle Photos
Posting fun and interesting lifestyle photos across your social media platforms shows people how you live your life. Those photos should be fun, beautiful and eye catching. They capture the attention of new people and shows those people that you are a real person. Not just someone trying to sell them something. Social Media is a personal thing. Showing people who are following you how they can relate to you is a huge part of building strong relationships. These people want an opportunity to get to know the real you. When your followers begin to know who you are, what you like, how you run your business, that is when they get to know like and trust you. Trust over time will bring potential customers, clients and new friends. I cant even begin to tell you how many friends and amazing people that I have had the pleasure of meeting just being online. So get out there and meet some new people.
Getting the Most Out of Your Social Media Efforts to Increase Your Business
If you are in business, keeping your Social Media profiles up to date with valuable content and information is a HUGE task and can be an awful lot of work. The time and effort that you put into your Social Media is a lot but it is SOOOOOO worth it. If you feel like it could be to much for you to handle on your own, I suggest that you look into hiring a Social Media Manager to make sure that the following daily tasks are getting done. Your social media efforts should be a top priority and not something that you put on the back burner. It is just as important as any piece of content that you create. If you are not making connections, building relationships and sharing information…..You are out of business. Make sure that you are putting a lot of work in to your social media strategy and mapping out the content that you want to share with your audience on a weekly or monthly basis. Treat your social media marketing like a business and not a hobby. Be consistent with your posts.
- Post content to your platforms several times a day. Do your research to find the best times to post and on which platform. Get your followers to engage with you. When they engage, they will continue to follow, like and share your post. Sharing your content with others on the web gives you more exposure. Make sure that you return the favor if it is content that you enjoy and find valuable.
- Keep your marketing fun, social and valuable not spammy and not pitchy. Your content should be 80% value and 20% business.
- Be visible.Put yourself out there and make yourself known. The more you post, the more that you are seen by friends, business associates and possible prospects.
- Get your blog or website out there on your platforms as much as possible. It builds your personal Brand.
Remember… Like I said, keep in fun! Social media should be taken seriously but kept light. Remember to stay consistent in your posting efforts. Posting once a day and then disappearing for three is not going to improve your online visibility
Social Media Tip: If you are having a hard time keeping up and can not afford to hire a manager, schedule your posts ahead of time with tools such as Buffer, Hootsuite ,Board Booster or Post Planner. Set your posts for the week and forget about it with the exception of responding to comments. Stay tuned for my blog post on these productivity tools.
Have fun and Happy Posting!
